On the one hand, it\u0027s not unreasonable to treat this like we do IMS and say \"not everyone needs it\" and \"needs a lot of proprietary stuff that depends on unstable frameworks interfaces\". On the other, you can\u0027t get service if you set up your phone from factory reset...for eSIM anyways.\n\nThat being said, this is probably fine, given that few people use eSIM (though lineage users are more techy than your average person and may be more inclined to try eSIM or know that you could use it for travel sim cards). Setup vs upgrade isn\u0027t as big a distinction as it\u0027s made out to be I think, given that a lot of people download eSIMs when they travel, not just use it for their main phone line.
